GCC students may be eligible to compete in both the GCC Zone and National Zone (Himalayan), subject to VVM terms and conditions for international participation.

Team Formation

A group of children not exceeding two can form a team and carry out a research project with the help of schoolteachers, coordinators, experts, activists, or research institutes as Project Guides. Project Guides should not have any blood relation with team members.

Evaluation Criteria

Originality of idea and concept, relevance to the theme, scientific understanding, data collection, analysis, experimentation/scientific validation, interpretation, problem-solving, teamwork, log book presentation, project display, innovation and scope for improvement.

Exhibition & Screening

Completed research projects will be exhibited and evaluated during Oman Student’s Innovation Congress (OSIC). Selected projects will be screened by eminent judges and submitted for consideration to participate in the National Children Science Congress.

Participation Notes

There will be no fee for participation in the OSIC program in Bahrain. The cost of travel to India has to be borne by the participant or school. The team leader of the winning team should be willing to travel to India for the five-day National Children’s Science Congress event.

Important Notes

Guidelines for schools, science coordinators, project guides, and participating student teams.

Project Guides and Science Coordinators should encourage children to take up topics with enough scope for simple experimentation and surveys.

Assessments and conclusions in BSIC should be backed by data and observations, ideally from a combination of experiments and surveys.

Projects should not depend too much on surveys alone.

NCSC detailed activity guide should be taken as a reference for theme and sub-theme details.

Team selection is done exclusively through schools. Interested students should download the research activity guide with detailed terms and conditions, theme description, and sample project report.
